Here are a few of the water heaters we typically repair, troubleshoot, install or replace .

1) Direct / Storage tank and high-efficiency water heaters: are available as residential and commercial products, they are the most common and least efficient (app 60%) of all water heaters.  The capacity is 30 to 120 gal.  The gas hot water is the most common and cost efficient in the Boston area.  Oil and electric hot water heaters models are also available. A direct vent hot water heater for installations without a flue or chimney is available.  Sealed combustion units are most efficient of all direct-fired.  Warranties are between 6 and 12 years.

2) Indirect fired heater :  commonly referred to as indirect water heater are very efficient,  determined by your heat source ussally a boiler.  Tanks are very well insulated and standby losses are minimal. They provide more hot water than direct fired tanks.  Most warranties are 20 years to lifetime.  Most are eligible for tax credits and utility rebates.

3)  Heat pump water heater:  a very efficient electric water heater.  Uses the heat pump to provide heat with resistance backup, with a capacity of 50 gallons. Warranties are 6 and 12 years.  Eligible for tax credits and utility rebates.

4) Tankless, instantaneous or on-demand:  are the among the newest types available. They can be gas or electric.  Natural gas is the most efficient (up to 98% ) and provides the most hot water. There is no water stored, so no standby losses.  Sized correctly, they can provide an endless supply of hot water. Most models and makes qualify for a tax credit and utility rebate.
